The opening of the exhibition Ca’ d’Oro: Masterpieces of the Renaissance in Venice

The official opening reception for the exhibition Ca’ d’Oro: Masterpieces of the Renaissance in Venice took place on Tuesday 29 November. The event was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani, Massimo Osanna, General-Director of the National Museums of Italy; Philippe Belaval, President of the Centre des monuments nationaux; Claudia Cremonini, Director of the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca d’Oro; and Marchesa Valentina Nasi, President of Venetian Heritage.

The exhibition presents a selection of exceptional loans from the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti at the Ca' d’Oro, Venice, which is currently under restoration. It is jointly organised by The Al Thani Collection Foundation, the Centre des monuments nationaux, the Regional Directorate of Museums of the Veneto and the Venetian Heritage Foundation, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture. The exhibition is curated by Philippe Malgouyres, Chief Curator of Heritage, Department of Decorative Arts, Musée du Louvre, and is the third in a series of biannual temporary loan exhibitions to be shown at The Al Thani Collection at the Hôtel de la Marine, alongside Treasures of The Al Thani Collection.

The exhibition opened to the public on Wednesday 30 November and is on view until 26 March 2023.
