The opening of the exhibition A Taste for the Renaissance: a dialogue between collections

On Monday 4 March, special guests were welcomed to the Hôtel de la Marine for the inaugural dinner to celebrate the exhibition A Taste for the Renaissance: a dialogue between collections. The event was hosted by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani, special cultural advisor to The Al Thani Collection Foundation, who was joined by Marie Lavandier, President of the Centre des monuments nationaux, and Tristram Hunt, Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

The exhibition presents masterpieces from the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, alongside those of The Al Thani Collection, and highlights the complex interconnections of the Renaissance world, a golden age of exploration and discovery which witnessed an exchange of materials and ideas across both Europe and distant lands. It is organised by The Al Thani Collection Foundation and the Centre des Monuments Nationaux in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum, and is on view at The Al Thani Collection at the Hôtel de la Marine until 30 June 2024.
